BED Mission

To attain its vision, the Grade School/High School Department implements the following programs:

  1. The Christian Living and Values Education Program aims  to help the students to:
    1. become well-integrated young Christian men and women  of character through the acquisition of the fundamental knowledge of Christian truths and values;
    2. promote their spiritual and moral development by sincerely and actively living their sacramental and liturgical life;
    3. realize that the fullness of their personality can be achieved as they relate and open themselves to others in a community;
    4. be aware of and help improve the social conditions in line with the teachings and lives of St. Dominic, St. Catherine of Siena , other Dominican Saints and Mother Francisca del Espiritu Santo de Fuentes;
    5. develop their friendship with God through constant prayer, reading of the Holy Bible and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary by praying the Rosary;
    6. be actively involved in the life of the parish, social action programs and have a sense of belongingness in the Church;
    7. bring forth the best in themselves as witnesses of Christ’s virtues in their own Christian living and faith;
    8. acquire knowledge on the nature and dignity of man, and to cultivate desirable relationships with others, with their communities and God;
    9. develop their ability to make their own decisions and to accept the consequences of his/her decisions;
    10. praise the Lord and appreciate the gift of life, and experience the world in the community of God and man.
  2. The Communication Arts – English Program aims to help the students to:
    • Grade School:
      1. develops thinking and language through interactive learning;
      2. develops communicative competence and critical literacy;
      3. draws on literature in order to develop students’ understanding of their literary heritage; draws on informational texts and multimedia in order to build academic vocabulary and strong content knowledge;
      4. develops students’ oral language and literacy through appropriately challenging learning;
      5. emphasizes writing arguments, explanatory/informative texts and narratives;
      6. provides explicit skill instruction in reading and writing;
      7. builds on the language, experiences, knowledge and interests that students bring to school;
      8. nurtures students’ sense of their common ground in using language/s for communication as present or future global citizens to prepare them to participate in school and in civic life, and;
      9. assesses and reflects the students’ ability to interpret and/or communicate in the target language.
    • Junior High School:
      1. prepare for active and effective interactions and interrelationship with their fellowmen;
      2. develop attitudes and skills needed for effective communications through listening, speaking, reading, writing and viewing;
      3. note differences and similarities in dealing with the different situations in life to meet the challenges and demands of the changing world;
      4. develop an accurate awareness and sensitivity to human situations through exposure to the different literary works;
      5. develop the ability to reflect on the experiences of others and oneself and to recreate these in words using the English language;
      6. develop and sharpen thinking skills and reasoning through the listening process;
      7. widen the opportunities for the appreciation of beauty in literature , music and nature;
      8. discover literature as a means of gaining vicarious experiences;
      9. appreciate one’s identity and cultural heritage;
      10. empower themselves by mastering the reading skills;
      11. display their acquired communication skills through declamation, theatrical presentation, journalism, debate and thesis writing;
      12. enhance their writing skills through composition writing, home reading report, and weekly book friend;
      13. follow the standard of cursive writing.
    • Senior High School:
      1. demonstrate understanding and appreciation of 21st Century Philippine Literature from the regions;
      2. understand and appreciate literary texts in various genres across national literature and cultures;
      3. develop communication skills in English for academic and professional purposes;
      4. develop reading and writing skills as applied to a wide range of materials other than poetry, fiction and drama; help them to think critically to be imaginative readers and writers;
      5. develop listening and speaking skills and strategies for effective communication in various situations;
      6. develops critical thinking and problem solving skills through quantitative and qualitative research.
  3. Ang Programa ng Asignaturang Filipino ay naglalayon na:
    1. malinang ang kakayahang komunikatibo, replektibo/mapanuring pag-iisip, pagpapahalagang pampanitikan ng mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng mga babasahin at teknolohiya tungo sa pagkakaroon ng pambansang pagkakakilanlan, kultural na literasi, at patuloy na pagkatuto upang makaagapay sa mabilis na pagbabagong nagaganap sa daigdig;
    2. mapalawak ang mga kasanayan sa pang-unawa, pagpapakahulugan, pagsusuri at pagbibigay-halaga sa mga kaisipan o paksang napakinggan, nabasa at natalakay;
    3. matamo ang mga kasanayan at kaalaman sa paggamit ng Filipino sa pakikipagtalastasang pasalita at pasulat ayon sa sitwasyon, pangangailangan at pagka
    4. maipamalas ang kakayahang maisulat nang wasto at maliwanag ang damdamin at kaisipan sa mga tiyak na layunin (sosyal, pangangalakal, bokasyonal, siyentipiko);
    5. mapayaman ang karanasan sa pamamagitan ng mga akdang pampanitikan upang mag-angkin ng malawak na kaisipan at pananaw sa buhay;
    6. mapahalagahan, mapangalagaan at malinang ang katangiang moral, ispiritwal at iba pang kanais-nais na pagpapahalaga at mga kaisipan sa mga katutubong panitikan na matatagpuan sa kultura at lipunang Pilipino;
    7. maipamalas ang kakayahan sa paggamit ng mga kaalaman at kasanayang pampanitikan upang mapadali at mapagaan ang pang-unawa sa mga akdang makabago at makasining;
    8. lalong maging ganap ang pagkatuto hindi lamang ang sining ng pakikipagtalastasan at yaman ng panitikang Filipino kundi ang pagkalinang sa bawat mag-aaral ng mga halagang pangkatauhan sa kanyang buong pagkatao, pisikal, emosyonal, mental, moral at ispiritwal;
    9. magamit nang wasto at may kabuluhan ang makro ng kasanayan—pagbasa, pagsulat, pakikinig, pagsasalita, at panonood sa lahat ng pagkakataon;
    10. magamit ng wasto ang cursive na pamamaraan ng pagsulat;
    11. malinang ang kasanayan sa paggamit ng wika sa mga sitwasyong komunikatibo at lupang ginagalawan; at
    12. makabubuo/makagagawa ng mga pananaliksik na may kaugnayan sa kultura at lipunan sa bansa.
  4. Ang Programa ng Araling Panlipunan ay naglalayon na:
    1. maipamalas ang kamalayan at pag-unawa sa sarili bilang kasapi ng pamilya, paaralan, simbahan at komunidad;
    2. malinang ang kamalayan, pang-unawa at pagpapahalaga sa mga simpleng konseptong heograpikal tulad ng lokasyon at pinagkukunang-yaman kasama ang mga tradisyong oral at mga labi ng kasaysayan;
    3. mapahalagahan ang kinabibilangang komunidad batay sa kinaroroonan/lokasyon, kultura, kabuhayan, pulitika at relihiyon;
    4. matukoy at maunawaan ang mga kaalaman at kasanayang pangheograpiya tungo sa paghubog ng mamamayang mapanuri, responsible, produktibo at makabansa;
    5. maipamalas ang malalim na pag-unawa at pagpapahalaga sa kasaysayan ng Filipinas mula sa ika-20 siglo hanggang sa kasalukuyan tungo sa pagbuo ng tiyak na pagkakakilanlan bilang mamamayang Filipino;
    6. maipakita at maisagawa sa tunay na buhay ang tungkulin sa sarili at kapwa upang makamit ang malalim at matatag na diwa ng nasyonalismo at pagkakaisa sa pag-unlad ng bansa at ng mga mamamayan nito;
    7. mapalawak ang kaalaman sa mga pangangailangan at suliraning kinakaharap ng kanyang pamayanan, rehiyon na kinabibilangan, ng ating bansa, at ng buong mundo;
    8. matukoy, maunawaan, at malinang ang mga pangunahing konsepto at kasanayan sa agham panlipunan tulad ng heograpiya, kasaysayan, sosyolohiya, ekonomiks, pamahalaan, at pulitika;
    9. maipamalas at maisagawa sa tunay na buhay ang tungkulin sa sarili at sa kapwa upang makamit ang malalim at matatag na diwa ng nasyonalismo at pagkakaisa sa pag-unlad ng bansa at ng mga mamamayan nito;
    • Junior High School:
      1. malinang ang mapanuring kaisipan upang maiangat ang kalagayan ng lipunang ginagalawan at mapaunlad ang kakayahang pangkaisipan, panlipunan, pangkabuhayan, at pang-ispiritwal;
      2. mapalawak ang kaalaman sa mga pangangailangan at suliraning kinakaharap ng kanyang pamayanan, rehiyon na kinabibilangan, ng ating bansa, at ng buong mundo;
      3. maisabuhay ang mga teorya at konsepto sa mas praktikal at makabuluhang pakikihalubilo sa pamamagitan ng mga patnubay na pangkaranasang pag-aaral (guided experiential learning) na gawain na siyang magdadala sa mga mag-aaral sa gitna ng tunay na sitwasyon;
        Iskedyul ng Pangkaranasang Pag-aaral:

        • Ikalawang Kwarter – Ika -10 grado (Grade 10)
        • Ikatlong Kwarter – Ika -8 at 9 na grado (Grades 8 & 9)
        • Ikaapat na Kwarter – Ika 7 grado (Grade 7)
      4. matukoy, maunawaan, at malinang ang mga pangunahing konsepto at kasanayan sa agham panlipunan tulad ng heograpiya, kasaysayan, sosyolohiya, ekonomiks, pamahalaan, at pulitika;
      5. mabigyang-pansin at pokus ang isyu ng “Human Trafficking” at iba pang isyung panlipunan sa pagtuturo at pagkatutong gawain ng erya tulad ng iFight Camp;
      6. maipamalas at maisagawa sa tunay na buhay ang tungkulin sa sarili at sa kapwa upang makamit ang malalim at matatag na diwa ng nasyonalismo at pagkakaisa sa pag-unlad ng bansa at ng mga mamamayan nito.
    • The Senior High School Program (Humanities and Social Sciences) aims to:
      1. Develop students awareness of culture, social, and political dynamics, and sensitivity to the cultural diversity.
      2. Provide them with an understanding of how culture, human agency, society and politics work.
      3. Acquire ideas about human culture, society, and politics;
      4. Develop social and cultural competence to guide their interactions with groups, communities ,networks, and institutions;
      5. Analyze the basic concepts, subjects, and networks of inquiry in the disciplines that comprise the Social Sciences;
      6. Discuss and relate the ideas and concepts from the varied disciplines underlying Social Science to the Philippines setting and current global trends.
  5. The Mathematics Program aims to help the pupils/students to:
    1. Enhance mathematical skills and processes starting from knowing and understanding up to applying and connecting;
    2. make use of and relate to the aids and tools of mathematics in handling problems concerning one’s area;
    3. identify describe and reflect on some current issues and challenges within the fields of mathematics;
    4. discover the widening use and applications of mathematics in different fields;
    5. work collaboratively and harmoniously with others as they formulate and solve mathematical problems;
    6. analyze, interpret and build mathematical models and designs which are beneficial to one’s course of study;
    7. use mathematical knowledge and skills in pursuing college education, in obtaining employment and in serving the community;
    8. live out Christian- Dominican values when facing math-related problems and real life challenges;
    9. discover one’s potential as they communicate in, with and about mathematics.
  6. The Science Program aims to help the students to:
    1. demonstrate understanding of science concepts specifically about Matter, Living Things and Their Environment, Force, Motion, Energy and Earth and Space;
    2. explain the natural world;
    3. apply science process and inquiry skills, scientific method and attitudes to solve problems critically, innovate beneficial products, enhance the integrity and wellness of people and make informed decisions;
    4. become stewards of God’s creation;
    5. participate in discussions of relevant issues that involve science, technology and the environment;
    6. become research oriented through the preparation of Science Investigatory Projects (SIP’s) and participation in Science Exhibits and various research forums;
    7. develop their skills and interests and help them decide on the best science related career to take up in the future.
  7. The Technology and Livelihood Education Program aims to:
    • Grade School:
      1. stimulate the pupils/students’ interest and develop their talents towards an intelligent choice of career or vocation;
      2. develop in the pupils/ students a healthy attitude towards the world of work and the dignity of labor by letting them experience the joy of productive and creative activity;
      3. help the pupils appreciate the role of each individual as a good Christian in maintaining harmonious relationship will others;
      4. help the pupils manage their own homes in the atmosphere of love, beauty, security and good health;
      5. provide the pupils ideas on some occupational possibilities that they may have from cooking, designing, handicraft, entrepreneurship, and computer application
      6. provide the pupils with activities that further enhance learning of things that compasses life itself.
    • Junior High School:
      1. help the students appreciate the role of each individual as a good Christian in maintaining harmonious relationship with others;
      2. help the students manage their own homes in the atmosphere of love, beauty, security and good health;
      3. provide the students ideas on some occupational possibilities that they may have from cooking, designing, handicraft, bookkeeping, drafting, entrepreneurship, and computer application;
      4. provide the students with activities that further enhance learning of things that compasses life itself;
      5. educate the students on entrepreneurship and inspire them to start their own business.
  8. The Music and Arts, Physical Education, and Health Program aims to help the students to:
    1. show basic understanding of the fundamental processes in music and arts, through performing, creating, listening and observing, and responding;
    2. identify the basic knowledge and skills in music and arts, toward self-development, the celebration of Filipino cultural identity and diversity, and the expansion of one’s world vision;
    3. demonstrate an understanding of body awareness, the importance of physical activity and physical fitness through participation in enjoyable physical activities;
    4. appreciate the observance of healthy habits and practices in achieving wellness;
    5. recognize the essential concepts related to nutrition and personal health as well as knowledge in injury prevention, safety and first aid, as factors in facilitating the development of healthy habits and practices among individuals;
    6. provide experiential learning for students to adopt an active life for fitness and lifelong health;
    7. enable the students to set goals, monitor one’s participation in aerobic, muscle and bone-strengthening activities and constantly evaluate how well one has integrated this into one’s personal lifestyle;
    8. foster appreciation for Philippine folk dance, indigenous and traditional dances as well as other dance forms.
  9. Children in Kindergarten are expected and are trained in simple developmental tasks that prepare them adequately for their first formal education.
    At the end of his Kindergarten training, the child will be able to:

    1. manifest love and respect for God the Father;
    2. show love and respect for parents, brothers and sisters, elders and fellow children;
    3. “think and do” independently within the limit of his/her maturity;
    4. recognize and count numbers correctly, at least 1 to 50/ 1 to 100;
    5. recognize and sound correctly the letters of alphabet, symbols and simple words in Filipino and English;
    6. practice desirable health habits at home and in school;
    7. express himself correctly and respond to simple questions in a proper manner;
    8. manifest a psychomotor coordination for effective performance of simple assigned tasks befitting his/her age;
    9. show creativity and talents in his participation and active involvement in activities related to the arts;
    10. Be instrumental in promoting a wholesome and healthy atmosphere at home, in the school and in the community so that trust, cooperation and concern may prevail.

    Effective pupil services and varied life experiences will enable the pupils to:

    1. get prepared for life by being creative, productive, and responsible members of their own community;
    2. relate with others in a truly Christian way;
    3. be of service to others by sharing their time and talents for the good of the society;
    4. be witnesses in words and in deeds.
